"Ogress II" is a computer music piece re-mixed and arranged from the background part of the
three pieces of the composer. The original three pieces were composed in 1998 : "Ogress",
"Scenary" and "Atom". These compositions were inspired with the poems written by Shimpei
Kusano. This piece "Ogress II" is a tape-music, but it may be performed as a background
music part of improvisational dance performance.
"Ogress" is a work of live computer music with a vocal performer. The vocal performer
sings, speaks and shouts to a microphone which connected to Kyma, and the voice is processed
in real-time. The background sound part is pre-processed with Kyma and Indy, and fixed to
CD. All sound materials of this part are generated with Kyma. The main materials are
recorded sounds reading of the poem by Reiko Shimokawa, and each sound sample is processed
by different algorythm by MAX patches.
"Scenary" is a work of computer music with a SHO (Japanese Traditional Instruments) performer.
The main sound materials are recorded sounds of SHO performed by Kinuyo Hayashi, and each
sound sample is processed by different algorythm in Kyma.
"Atom" is a work of live computer music with a "Harp Sensor" performer. The performer plays
the original "Harp Sensor" produced by the composer to generate sounds as an instrument with
back-ground part CD. The main sound materials are generated with Vocoder / FM / Formant
Filer / Speech Generate algorythms in Kyma.
The performer of these pieces may have a Stop Watch to detect the position of the piece with
the score, but playing points are not fixed exactly. She may perform with the improvisation
spirit of her own, and she must listen to the sound in the whole performance.
